My Everyday Morning Routine

One of the my favorite posts to read are morning routines. They sound simple, but you can learn so much about a person by how they start their morning.  Some of us prefer to pace ourselves, while others are up and ready to conquer the day. I recently found this amazing website where professionals with different career paths take us through their morning routine. Check it out if you need some inspiration!

Rise and Shine
I typically wake up at 7:00 am and pick up my phone. Not the best way to start my day, but one eventually I'll break this habit! First, I read Jesus Calling which I highly recommend. This is my second time going through the entire book and each page still resonates with my day. Next, I'll check my email and slack to respond to anything that needs immediate attention.

One of my intentions for 2019 is to read the Bible more. I'll admit, I don't read the Bible every morning, but when I do I like to follow along with Bible study lessons on YouTube. If you have any resources for studying the Bible, drop them in the comment section below.

Breakfast Time
Around 8:00 I'm ready to make breakfast. I keep it simple with either a bowl of cereal or eggs sprinkled with cheese and sausage on the side. A cup of coffee with lots of sugar is a must to wake me up! Lemon water is a recent addition to my breakfast to get all of its lovely benefits first thing in the morning. I like to enjoy some music while cooking and right now I'm loving Amanda Cook's new album, House on a Hill. Sometimes I'll have my laptop open and work while eating, but I'm trying to be more mindful of separately mealtime from work.

Dress for Success
After eating breaking, I get dressed for the day around 8:30. I tend to keep my outfit casual and dress it up with minimal accessories and light makeup. Even if you don't have a strict dress code or work from home, I find that putting in a bit more effort makes me feel more together. Right now I'm eyeing these sapphire hoops!

That completes my morning routine! Reading this over, I would make a few adjustments like getting up earlier, adding a light workout routine, and keeping my phone across the room so I can't reach it right away. What does your morning routine look like?
