How to Create an Aesthetic iOS 14 Home Screen

So, who else rushed to update their iPhone to iOS 14 after scrolling through the beautiful home screens on Twitter? *Raises hand* I spent longer than what I care to admit, customizing my home screen so you don't have to go through the trouble of figuring it out.

Before I jump into the tutorial, follow the steps below to ensure your phone is all set to go!

Update your iPhone to iOS 14 (of course)
Download Widgetsmith
Download shortcuts (if you deleted this app)
Have a layout in mind and your photos organized in an album to access them quickly

How To Customize App Icons

Open shortcuts and tap the + sign in the top right corner.
Tap  + add action and type open app in the search bar.
Tap open app under actions
Tap choose and select an app.
Tap the circle with three dots inside in the top right corner.
Give your shortcut a name. Add emojis if you want!

Tap add to home screen.
Under home screen name and icon, type your app name again then tap the icon next to it.
A dialogue box will pop up then tap choose photo.
Tap add in the top right corner.

That's it! Now you have a custom app icon! Move the original app to the app library so you don't have duplicates. Make the app shake, then select remove app. Finally select, move to app library. Swipe your screen all the way to the right to locate the app library.

All the photos I used for my home screen are from Unsplash. Now, we're onto part two of this tutorial.

How to Create A Photo Widget

Open Widgetsmith and select a widget size. Tap default widget and choose photo. Tap selected photo then choose photo.  Next, tap the back arrow. Tap save. Make the screen shake then tap the + in the top right corner. Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap Widgetsmith. Scroll to the size you selected earlier and tap add widget. You're all set!
